BJP national spokesperson CR Kesavan has lambasted the Congress party and the INDI bloc for their staunch opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, describing the legislation as 'historic' and a measure to empower the Muslim community.

Kesavan questioned the Congress and INDI alliance's apprehensions, asking, 'Why is the Congress and INDI alliance against rendering justice to our Muslim brothers and sisters whose voices have been crushed? Why are they trying to mislead the Muslim community? Why is the INDI Alliance trying to play the politics of political appeasement?' He asserted that the bill has received widespread support and is a significant step toward empowering the Muslim community.

However, Congress MP K Suresh argued that the amendments are a government ploy to take over Waqf properties, labeling the bill as 'anti-constitutional.' Suresh expressed concerns that the bill aims to attack minorities, particularly Muslims. He pointed out strong opposition from various parties, including Congress, DMK, NCP, Trinamool Congress, and AIMIM, suggesting that the bill should be referred to a standing committee for further scrutiny. Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju introduced the bill in the Lok Sabha, promising to address issues related to State Waqf Boards effectively.
