Parliamentary Clash: Dhankhar vs. Bachchan in Rajya Sabha

Rajya Sabha witnessed a heated exchange between Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and actor-politician Jaya Bachchan. Bachchan accused Dhankhar of speaking to her in an 'unacceptable' tone, leading to a strong retort from Dhankhar. The opposition, led by the INDIA bloc, is considering submitting a notice to remove Dhankhar from his position as Vice President, accusing him of partisan behavior.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and actor-politician Jaya Bachchan were embroiled in a heated confrontation on Friday. Bachchan criticized Dhankhar's tone towards her, which she termed 'unacceptable,' prompting Dhankhar to assert his authority, stating he cannot be 'schooled' by anyone, even a celebrity.

The discord intensified tensions in the Upper House and had the INDIA bloc considering a resolution for Dhankhar's removal, alleging his partisan conduct. This development followed a walkout by the opposition, further exacerbating the strained relationship.

Bachchan, joined by senior opposition leaders including Sonia Gandhi, expressed her discontent with the Chairman's tone and conduct. As tempers flared, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized the need for MPs to adhere to parliamentary norms and not challenge the Chair's authority.
