Anil Deshmukh, the NCP (SP) leader, on Sunday questioned Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about the timing of his allegations, made 15 days after being 'exposed'.
In response, the BJP stated that Fadnavis speaks with facts, emphasizing that his statements are well-grounded.
The spat began when Fadnavis accused Deshmukh of trying to frame key politicians during his tenure as the home minister in the MVA government, including ex-CM Uddhav Thackeray.
Deshmukh, in a post on X, claimed that Fadnavis conspired three years ago to jail Uddhav Thackeray and Aaditya Thackeray. He alleged that dismissed policeman Sachin Waze and former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, involved in a notorious bomb scare incident, were acting under Fadnavis's direction.
Chandan Goswami, BJP state spokesperson, defended Fadnavis, stating that all his claims are factual and accused the MVA of spreading false narratives.
Fadnavis also alleged that officials were contracted to imprison him and other BJP leaders in false cases during the MVA government, but the plan failed due to the integrity of certain officials.
This heated exchange continues to expose the deep political rifts within Maharashtra.
