Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday extended his warm wishes to India on its Independence Day, reiterating Moscow's dedication to strengthening the 'privileged strategic partnership' between the two countries.
'For 77 years of independent development, your country has achieved universally recognised successes in socio-economic, scientific, technological, and many other spheres, gaining high prestige in the world arena,' Putin stated in a message addressed to his Indian counterpart Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
'We attach great importance to our particularly privileged strategic partnership with India. The consistent implementation of agreements reached during our recent discussions in Moscow will contribute to the further development of multifaceted Russian-Indian cooperation,' he was quoted by the state-run TASS news agency.
Putin emphasized that this cooperation aligns with the interests of both countries and promotes international security and stability. His statement comes as PM Modi is expected to visit war-torn Ukraine next week for talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, although no official announcement has been made yet.
