Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has granted permission to prosecute Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the controversial MUDA compensatory site allotment scam. This development has triggered a political storm, with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticizing BJP-appointed governors for targeting non-BJP states.

Kharge, speaking in Bengaluru, admitted he had not reviewed the specifics of Gehlot's decision. 'I have neither seen it nor know the details of what the notice is about. I have also not seen the reasons cited for permission,' he stated.

The allegations center on compensatory sites allocated to Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi, in a prime area of Mysuru. Opposition figures claim this constitutes misuse of power. Siddaramaiah has refuted the accusations, deeming them a conspiracy to destabilize the Congress government.
