In a sharp critique of the Modi government, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday credited a robust opposition for forcing the Union government to cancel the latest lateral entry recruitment.
Addressing an event in Mumbai celebrating the 80th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Kharge accused the administration of attempting to appoint RSS-affiliated individuals to government positions without adhering to reservation policies. He noted that this plan was thwarted due to the strong opposition presence.
The controversy took a concrete turn when the Centre instructed the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to withdraw the advertised lateral entry positions, leading to the advertisement's cancellation on Tuesday.
