Indian Americans are poised to vote in the 2024 US presidential election based on candidates' actions, not heritage, according to a newly formed body representing Asian communities. AsiansMAGA claims that Republican candidate Donald Trump has a better track record than his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Kamala Harris, 59, is the first presidential candidate of Indian heritage on a Democratic ticket, garnering excitement among Indian-Americans, who account for about five million people in the US. However, Holly Ham, co-founder of Asians MAGA, said, "Indian Americans are looking at the values and actions, not just heritage."
AsiansMAGA, a national alliance formed by grassroots Asian American leaders, aims to mobilize Asian American conservatives and moderates, including Chinese, Indian, Korean, Vietnamese, and Filipino communities, to support Trump in the 2024 election. Ham emphasized Trump's focus on meritocracy and the importance of strong international relationships, specifically with India.
