Final Phase of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Polls Announced

Polling for 40 assembly constituencies will take place on October 1. The deadline for nominations is September 12, with elections marking a significant event post-Article 370 abrogation.

The Election Commission of India on Thursday issued a notification for the third and final phase of the Legislative Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Forty assembly constituencies across Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipora, Udhampur, Kathua, Samba, and Jammu districts will go to polls on October 1.
In the Kashmir Division, 16 constituencies will hold elections, while the Jammu region will witness polling for 24 seats. Constituencies in Kashmir include Karnah, Trehgam, Kupwara, and others. In Jammu, the constituencies are Udhampur West, Udhampur East, Chenani, and more.
According to the notification, the last date to file nominations is September 12, with scrutiny on September 13. Candidature can be withdrawn until September 17. The first two phases of polling are scheduled for September 18 and September 25. This election is notable as it's the first assembly poll since Jammu and Kashmir became two Union Territories post-Article 370 abrogation.
