The Delhi Police has started providing security cover to Atishi shortly after she was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Delhi, officials confirmed on Saturday.
Atishi, along with her cabinet, took the oath of office administered by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena at the Raj Niwas on Saturday evening.
Following the ceremony, a security cover that includes a pilot escort was assigned to Atishi, a senior police officer reported. Her security may see further evaluation by central agencies as directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) after conducting a threat assessment.
As per protocol, the Chief Minister of Delhi is entitled to a 'Z' category security cover mandated by the MHA. This level of security involves the deployment of approximately 22 personnel working in shifts.
