A Dalit man from Kasganj tragically took his own life after reportedly being ousted from a Ramlila event by local police. The incident has sparked political outrage, with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav sharply criticizing the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh for what he termed as 'humiliating' treatment of minority communities.
According to the police, the 45-year-old man, identified as Ramesh Chandra, was escorted out of the cultural event after organizers claimed he was intoxicated. Police report that Chandra's body was discovered at his residence the following morning, with investigations led by Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Bhartiya currently underway.
The deceased’s family has lodged a formal complaint while police personnel involved have been reassigned. Yadav condemned the alleged mistreatment as part of a broader systemic issue under BJP's tenure, urging accountability and transparency in addressing such grievances against underrepresented groups.
