The National Conference (NC) and Congress alliance have made a remarkable comeback in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, securing a majority of seats, as per the Election Commission's final results. This coalition victory will see Omar Abdullah, son of NC chief Farooq Abdullah, take over as Chief Minister of the Union Territory.
The NC emerged as the largest party with 42 seats, followed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with 29 seats, while Congress secured 6 seats. Notably, seven independents claimed victories in their constituencies. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's PDP took 3 seats, with the JKPC and AAP securing one seat each.
The BJP achieved a remarkable 25.64% voter share, trailing just behind the National Conference's 23.43%, yet fell short of a majority. Meanwhile, the National Conference-Congress alliance celebrated their success, gearing up to focus on addressing key issues such as unemployment and inflation.
