Samajwadi Party candidate Tej Pratap Yadav officially entered the by-election race for Karhal assembly by filing his nomination on Monday, with a vote set for November 13. Accompanied by his party's President Akhilesh Yadav and Mainpuri MP Dimple Yadav, Tej Pratap highlighted his family's deep-rooted connections with Karhal locals, expressing assurance of victory through their support.
In his address to reporters, Tej Pratap criticized the BJP, stating it only holds influence due to its governmental power rather than genuine public backing. His campaign activities also included paying respects to Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav at Saifai, cementing his homage to family and party legacies.
SP's General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav reinforced confidence in Tej Pratap's upcoming success, citing the political stronghold Karhal has been for SP since 1993. The bypoll became necessary after Akhilesh Yadav vacated the seat following his election to the Kannauj constituency as a Member of Parliament.
