In a tense political maneuver, several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders found themselves briefly detained by police on Tuesday outside Rawalpindi's Adiala jail. The leaders, present to meet former prime minister Imran Khan, were allegedly violating Section 144.
Omar Ayub Khan, Shibli Faraz, Asad Qaiser, and others were among those arrested, with PTI voicing strong condemnation of the move. The party criticized the detainments as an affront to basic freedoms and the rule of law.
According to Sajjadul Hassan, a Punjab Police spokesperson, the PTI leaders' arrests were for defying the assembly ban under Section 144. Though detained briefly, they were released after receiving warnings, underscoring ongoing efforts to enforce legislative orders amid heightened political tensions.
