In a significant move towards mending ties between India and China, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese Foreign Minister Yi Wang convened for the Special Representatives dialogue on Wednesday. The meeting, held after a five-year hiatus, aims to thaw the frozen bilateral relations, pending military standoff in eastern Ladakh.
Doval, heading the Indian delegation, arrived for the 23rd round of Special Representatives' talks, which began at 10 am China time. High on the agenda are discussions on maintaining peace along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and implementing the recent disengagement agreements to reset the strained bilateral relations.
The dialogue emerges from a backdrop of affirmations between leaderships of India and China for a stable development track based on mutual respect and cooperation. With the conclusion of negotiations at key friction points like Demchok and Depsang, both sides view the talks as a strategic step forward in reinforcing diplomatic ties.
