Krishnendu Narayan Chowdhury, chairperson of the English Bazar Municipality and a prominent TMC leader in West Bengal's Malda district, has reported receiving a death threat. The call, allegedly from a 'D Company' member, demanded Rs 20 lakh.

This threat follows the recent murder of TMC councillor Dulal Sarkar, heightening security concerns in the region. Chowdhury reported that the threatening call came on his mobile, accompanied by a WhatsApp message, and promptly informed the police. His residence now has increased security.
