On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended their birthday wishes to Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma. In a post on X, PM Modi expressed his wishes for Lalduhoma's long and healthy life. Similarly, CM Khandu extended warm greetings and blessings for Lalduhoma's continued service to the people.
Lalduhoma, who took office as Mizoram's Chief Minister on December 8, 2023, met with PM Modi earlier in January. During the meeting, the Prime Minister congratulated him and pledged central government support for Mizoram's economic development initiatives, suggesting regular discussions on state development issues.
In a significant political shift, Lalduhoma led the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) to a historic election victory, securing 27 out of 40 assembly seats in Mizoram. This marked the end of a decades-long political pattern dominated by the Mizo National Front and Congress. Formerly an IPS officer, Lalduhoma's career has taken him from security duties for Indira Gandhi to founding and leading the ZPM, which has now become a formidable force in Mizoram's politics.
