Irtiqa Mufti, the eldest daughter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti, has made a public appeal against alcohol consumption in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Mufti's campaign aims to garner citizen support in the fight against alcohol addiction and its detrimental effects.

In a video message on platform X, Mufti urged the public to join the PDP's effort to ban alcohol, stressing the importance of education and proper rehabilitation for those struggling with addiction. She stated, "The ban is just the beginning. Educating people about the risks of alcohol and drugs is crucial."

The initiative includes a digital signature campaign and highlights the need for community responsibility. "The government alone cannot eradicate this menace. It's a collective effort," she said. The campaign backs a legislative bill submitted by PDP's Kupwara MLA, Mir Mohammad Fayaz.
