Prime Minister Narendra Modi commenced a significant two-day visit to Mauritius, aiming to foster a brighter chapter in the bilateral relations between the two nations. Modi's itinerary, set for March 11 and 12, aligns with Mauritius’s national day celebrations, where he will engage with Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam and other leaders.

In his departure statement, Modi expressed eagerness to strengthen Indo-Mauritian ties across multiple dimensions. Involved in the celebrations are a contingent of Indian armed forces, an Indian Navy warship, and the Akash Ganga skydiving team, demonstrating India's commitment to enhancing this maritime partnership.

Focusing on longstanding mutual trust, shared democratic values, and historical connections, Modi emphasized the importance of this visit for regional security and growth, in line with India's SAGAR vision. India and Mauritius notably share robust economic ties, highlighted by the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation and Partnership Agreement signed in 2021.
