In a charged press conference, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam publicly demanded that comedian Kunal Kamra retract statements made during his show targeting Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. According to Nirupam, the remarks have incited anger among party workers, who are reportedly seeking Kamra to extract "revenge" for the perceived insult.
The controversy has escalated with the Mumbai police registering an FIR against Kamra. The comedian allegedly defamed Deputy CM Shinde, drawing fiery reactions from Shiv Sainiks, some of whom responded by vandalizing the Habitat Studio and a nearby hotel where Kamra's show took place.
Nirupam further alleged that Kamra is funded by Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders, illustrating his ties with opposition figures through photos. He accused Kamra of acting as a "dalal" for the INDIA alliance and warned of consequences if he does not apologize. The incident highlights the ongoing tension between Shiv Sena factions.
