On Wednesday, BJP leader Praveen Khandelwal expressed his backing for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's comments regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. The amendments, intended to uplift the common people, have been met with opposition that Khandelwal attributes to political motives.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was critical of the opposition's stance, accusing them of spreading misinformation about the BJP's intentions concerning mosques and Waqf properties. In an exclusive interview, Adityanath questioned the opposition's motives behind land acquisition in the name of Waqf, alleging misuse for personal gains and mismanagement of the properties.
The BJP has emphasized its commitment to preventing encroachments and ensuring that Waqf properties serve their intended purpose for community welfare. With a focus on transparency, Chief Minister Adityanath highlighted the necessity of the Waqf Amendment Bill for the benefit of both the country and the Muslim community. Meanwhile, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board has initiated nationwide protests, which BJP leaders criticize as politicization ahead of formal parliamentary discussions.
