In a significant development for international relations, Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to an invitation by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit India. Announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, plans for the visit are currently being set in motion, though exact dates remain undisclosed.
The announcement came during Lavrov's video address at a conference titled 'Russia and India: Toward a New Bilateral Agenda,' hosted by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC). Lavrov emphasized the reciprocal nature of the diplomatic visits, noting Modi's recent official trip to Russia.
This visit aims to further solidify the strong bilateral ties between the two nations, following Modi's historical visit to Russia, marking his first in five years. During that visit, Modi extended a formal invitation to the Russian President, highlighting the robust partnership between India and Russia.
