Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, claimed on Thursday that he is consistently denied the opportunity to speak in Parliament. His comments came after leaders of the INDIA bloc met Speaker Om Birla to discuss this alleged suppression of opposition voices.
Gandhi expressed bewilderment regarding the alleged non-democratic conduct of the House. Meanwhile, Congress deputy leader Gaurav Gogoi stated that a delegation of opposition leaders approached Speaker Birla during Zero Hour, collectively airing their grievances and disappointment over the situation.
The opposition also questioned the politicization of the Speaker's institution, further flagging the absence of a Deputy Speaker in the Lok Sabha. Despite Speaker Birla's insistence on aligning with parliamentary procedures, Gandhi termed the rulings against him as unsubstantiated.
