A Salute to Bravery: Martyrs Honored Amid India-Pakistan Conflict

In the wake of Operation Sindoor, a military confrontation between India and Pakistan escalated, resulting in significant loss of life. Pakistani leaders honored the armed forces' sacrifices while urging continued respect for ceasefire arrangements and addressing water disputes under the Indus Water Treaty.

In a poignant tribute, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif honored the courage of Pakistan Army and Air Force personnel who sacrificed their lives during recent skirmishes with India. The Pakistani leaders paid specific homage to 11 military members who lost their lives in response to Indian precision strikes labelled Operation Sindoor, launched after the Pahalgam terror attack.

India's retaliatory action on May 7 led to a series of tense engagements, with Pakistan attempting counterattacks on Indian military bases from May 8-10. Despite the intensity, by Saturday an understanding was reached to end the confrontation. The Pakistani leadership, while acknowledging the ceasefire, emphasized unresolved issues like the Indus Water Treaty.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar highlighted the fragile nature of peace talks, underscoring water rights concerns as a potential flashpoint in future negotiations. The Foreign Office echoed this vigilance, reiterating Pakistan's stance on de-escalation and regional stability while scrutinizing India's adherence to the agreements.
