President Droupadi Murmu extended her condolences on Monday following the death of former Kerala Chief Minister V. S. Achuthanandan. A respected figure in India's Communist landscape, Achuthanandan passed away at 101 in a Thiruvananthapuram hospital, confirmed CPI(M) state secretary M V Govindan.
In a social media post, President Murmu expressed her sadness over the loss. 'Saddened by the demise of Shri V. S. Achuthanandan Ji, a veteran Communist leader and former Chief Minister of Kerala,' she noted.
The President highlighted Achuthanandan's long-standing commitment to public welfare, particularly for marginalized communities, and acknowledged his significant contributions to Kerala's development.
