SP's Muhibullah Nadvi Faces Disqualification Over 'Office of Profit' Controversy

The BJP alleges SP's Muhibullah Nadvi holds an 'office of profit' as a mosque imam, demanding his Lok Sabha disqualification. Nadvi's role, financed by a statutory body, could violate Article 102(1)(a) of the Constitution. The BJP also accuses him of using the mosque for personal and political purposes.

The BJP has called for the disqualification of Muhibullah Nadvi, a Samajwadi Party member of the Lok Sabha, claiming he holds an 'office of profit' as an imam and receives a salary from the Waqf Board.

In a letter addressed to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, BJP minority morcha president Jamal Siddiqui asserted that the Rampur MP is paid Rs 18,000 monthly by the Waqf Board for his role as an imam, a position deemed an 'office of profit' under Article 102(1)(a) of the Constitution.

Siddiqui has urged investigations into whether Nadvi's imam post violates constitutional provisions. He also demands Nadvi's removal from the mosque, accusing him of using it as personal property for Samajwadi Party activities.
