Kerala's Excise Minister, M B Rajesh, has called out Union Minister of State Suresh Gopi for his silence over the arrest of nuns in Chhattisgarh. Rajesh pointed out the absence of any comment from Gopi, who had previously attracted attention by gifting a controversial gold crown to a church.
The scrutiny arose during Suresh Gopi's visit to the Lourde Matha Church, where the authenticity of the crown, presented as gold during his daughter's wedding, was questioned. Opponents have accused him of misleading the public, suggesting it was made of copper with gold plating.
Rajesh further accused the BJP and its affiliate, Sangh Parivar, of practicing double standards on minority issues in Kerala versus their stance in other regions. His remarks followed the conditional bail grant to the arrested nuns, an event that Suresh Gopi has yet to comment on.
