On Wednesday, former Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Swami Prasad Maurya was reportedly slapped by a Karni Sena activist while en route to Fatehpur. The altercation occurred at Saras Crossing during a welcome event organized by local supporters.
The accused allegedly joined the crowd under the guise of garlanding Maurya. Immediate action was taken by Maurya's supporters, who apprehended and retaliated against the assailant. Two individuals have been detained by the police for further questioning.
Maurya decried the incident as indicative of the support that Karni Sena receives from the ruling party, accusing them of undermining law and order in the state. He announced that Lok Morcha plans to contest the 2027 elections with the slogan 'BJP Hatao, UP Bachao'.
