The Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) announced a three-day hunger strike from August 9, condemning the Centre's delay in statehood and Sixth Schedule talks for Ladakh.

The strike, set in Kargil, aims to rally public support, with the Leh Apex Body leaders also urged to join. The KDA stresses peaceful protest as they push for their four-point agenda, including statehood, Sixth Schedule status, a dedicated Public Service Commission, and additional parliamentary seats.

KDA's co-chairman Asgar Ali Karbalai underscored the urgency of the issue, highlighting a previous meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs that resolved domicile and reservation matters. Both bodies are determined not to let their demands be sidelined.
