The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced the nomination of Maharashtra Governor C P Radhakrishnan as the National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) vice-presidential candidate on Sunday. A seasoned leader and representative of the influential Gounder caste, Radhakrishnan's nomination was confirmed by BJP president J P Nadda after consultations with senior party leaders and allies.

Following the announcement, several allies, including Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Lok Janshakti Party chief Chirag Paswan, pledged their support to Radhakrishnan's candidacy. Naidu commended Radhakrishnan as a respected leader, while Paswan highlighted the NDA's ongoing commitment to social justice and inclusion.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will supervise the election, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will act as the polling agent. Nominations close on August 21, with the election scheduled for September 9 if an opposition candidate emerges.
