In a fervent critique, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to erase tribal identity by labeling them as 'vanvasi'.
Speaking at a tribal rights camp organized by the Tribal Congress in Bhainsdehi, Singh underscored that tribals are the nation's oldest inhabitants, with inherent rights recognized by the Constitution. He condemned the BJP's ideological stance and alleged political motivations behind their actions.
Singh further criticized the BJP's approach to religious conversion, stating that conversions should be a personal choice rather than a result of coercion. He also dismissed the BJP's political tactics surrounding religious issues as mere opportunism. Vikrant Bhuria, president of the Adivasi Congress, emphasized ongoing efforts to empower tribals statewide.
