The AIADMK is petitioning the central government to award the Bharat Ratna posthumously to renowned freedom fighter Pasumpon U Muthramalinga Thevar. AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami revealed that representation was made to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on this matter during a meeting in Delhi.
In the backdrop of internal AIADMK tensions, Palaniswami's Delhi visit has fueled speculations about whether the BJP is influencing the party's reintegration talks with expelled leaders. While speculation persists about Palaniswami's discussions with Shah, the AIADMK insists that it focuses solely on Thevar's Bharat Ratna recognition.
The political dynamics have further intensified with allegations from Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam's TTV Dhinakaran, who claimed Palaniswami masked his face post-meeting to obscure the events, dubbing him 'mask' Palaniswami. This development has added a new layer to Tamil Nadu's political drama.
