India has expressed apprehensions following the signing of a strategic defence pact between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, underscoring the importance of 'mutual interests and sensitivities.' Riyadh and Islamabad have committed to viewing any aggression against either nation as a collective threat.
India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted the robust strategic partnership that India shares with Saudi Arabia, which has grown considerably in recent years. Jaiswal urged that such partnerships should prioritize mutual benefits.
The 'Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement' was signed in a ceremony attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The agreement underscores a shared resolution to boost defense cooperation and powerfully deter aggression between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, who maintain a longstanding defense relationship.
