Amid worsening air quality in Delhi, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for failing to address the pressing issue. Singhvi emphasized the need for accountability over delivering sermons during festivals, stating the populace demands action to combat pollution.
The city's air pollution remains alarmingly high, with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) reporting Air Quality Index (AQI) readings consistently in the 'very poor' category. Notably, areas like RK Puram and Anand Vihar recorded AQI levels of 380 and 355, respectively.
Simultaneously, political tensions arose as Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of using Diwali as a scapegoat for the pollution issue. In response, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta outlined initiatives to curb pollution, including promoting electric vehicles and proposing artificial rain solutions.
