In a recent statement, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut renewed his call for a unified Opposition to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra's crucial civic elections. Pointing to the potential risk to Mumbai, he emphasized that the city's protection is paramount.
Raut's comments followed Congress MLC Bhai Jagtap's announcement that the Grand Old Party would not collaborate with Shiv Sena (UBT) or Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) for the Mumbai civic polls. Despite this, Raut asserted that any alliance discussions would involve the Congress' central leadership.
Citing the history of the Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti, Raut stressed the necessity for parties to unite. He signaled the urgency of saving Mumbai from external economic influences, such as the Adani Group, and preserving democratic values.
