Political Tensions Flare in West Bengal Over NRC Allegations

Following the alleged suicide of Pradeep Kar near Kolkata, a political confrontation has erupted between West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and BJP's Suvendu Adhikari. Banerjee accuses the BJP of creating fear over the National Register of Citizens (NRC), which she claims led to Kar's death.

Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition, countered Banerjee's claims, stating that Kar's death, in no way, relates to the NRC issue. According to Adhikari, Pradeep Kar was listed in the 2002 electoral rolls, and his death is being falsely linked to the NRC by the ruling party for political gains.

Adding to the narrative, BJP's IT cell head, Amit Malviya, criticized Banerjee for spreading panic and insisted on a thorough investigation to determine the actual cause of Kar's suicide, rejecting any political interpretations. Meanwhile, Barrackpore Police continue to probe the incident.
