Russia Considers New Peace Framework for Ukraine War
Russia has acknowledged receiving an 'updated and refined peace framework' to end the conflict in Ukraine, a move confirmed by the Kremlin. Talks in Moscow are expected next week involving discussions with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff. The framework could form the basis for future peace agreements.
Russia has confirmed receipt of an 'updated and refined peace framework' from the U.S. and Kyiv to resolve the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Discussions are slated for next week in Moscow, the Kremlin announced on Friday.
Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed on Thursday that the draft proposals, which were deliberated by the U.S. and Ukraine in Geneva, could pave the way for future peace agreements. However, he also cautioned that Russia would continue the conflict if the proposals are not agreeable. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated that the plans would indeed be reviewed in Moscow imminently.
Steve Witkoff, special envoy for U.S. President Donald Trump, is expected to engage in discussions with Putin next week regarding the peace ideas. Peskov noted that specific details about the timing of these talks would be communicated to reporters in due course.
