The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has launched an intensive grassroots push by dispatching nine senior leaders to various districts for on-ground voter roll oversight. This strategy comes after the party's leadership expressed concerns over organizational inattentiveness in several areas.
Party insiders report that TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee's dissatisfaction with the state of the SIR process prompted this strategic shift, with National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee spearheading the initiative. The move, resembling TMC's pre-2021 election mobilizations, seeks to address potential political risks as the state gears up for the 2026 elections.
Leaders like Labour Minister Moloy Ghatak and MLA Manoj Tiwari, among others, have been assigned to oversee critical regions. The urgency stems from allegations of voter list manipulations, with TMC and BJP trading accusations over 'fake inclusions' and 'motivated deletions'.
