Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar has raised concerns about the OBC reservation issue in the impending local body elections in Maharashtra. Despite the Supreme Court's decision not to halt the elections, uncertainty remains over the political representation of the OBC community.
In a conversation with reporters in Chandrapur, Wadettiwar clarified that while the election process is allowed to go ahead, results for OBC-reserved seats are contingent on the Supreme Court's final ruling. This creates an air of uncertainty for the OBC community's political future.
The Congress Legislature Party leader criticized the ruling BJP for failing to provide assured 27 percent reservations for OBCs as claimed. The Supreme Court's reiteration of the 50 percent reservation cap has invalidated the BJP's assertions, Wadettiwar alleged, urging concrete actions for constitutional representation.
