West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya has urged Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to personally visit the state amid allegations of intimidation by the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) during the ongoing revision of electoral rolls.
Claiming TMC has fostered a 'threat culture,' Bhattacharya alleged booth-level officers (BLOs) are operating under duress, pressured into uploading false data. He criticized the Election Commission's distant monitoring, stressing the need for on-ground assessment.
The BJP plans to approach the CEC with formal complaints next week as incidents of BLOs' deaths, attributed to 'inhumane work pressure,' have raised significant concerns. Bhattacharya insists that only direct intervention can address the volatile political climate in the state.
