A high-intensity protest erupted on Monday as a BJP delegation, led by Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, made its way to the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer's office. The visit was marked by loud chants from the BLO Adhikar Raksha Committee, who claim an unsustainable workload during the Special Intensive Revision exercise.
According to a senior official, the demonstrators attempted to breach police barricades as Adhikari and accompanying BJP MLAs entered the CEO office. Their demands include an extension of the SIR deadline by two months and compensation for the families of deceased BLOs.
Despite the protests, the BJP delegation proceeded with their scheduled meeting with Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal and Special Roll Observer Subrata Gupta, aiming to address their concerns surrounding the electoral roll revision process in West Bengal.
