Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has called on the Uttar Pradesh government to publicly disclose the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He expressed concerns about the excessive pressure on booth level officers (BLOs) and urged the Election Commission to ensure transparency in the process.
The state election official responded to Yadav's demands, stating that nearly all forms have been distributed, with more than 91% of digitisation work completed. Additional personnel have been deployed to assist the BLOs, with the task deemed a national priority.
Yadav alleged attempts to delete names from specific communities and demanded a thorough investigation. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer confirmed the completion schedule for SIR, highlighting that multiple political parties have appointed booth level agents.
