Nana Patole, a Maharashtra Congress leader, voiced concerns on Monday that the BJP government at the Centre is allegedly diverting public attention from pressing economic issues such as inflation and the depreciation of the Rupee.
Patole's remarks, made to reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan premises, were in response to recent developments involving a suspended TMC MLA laying a mosque's foundation stone modeled after the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad, West Bengal, and the grand Bhagavad Gita recital in Kolkata.
Criticizing the government's priorities, Patole argued that instead of addressing significant economic and national issues, religious disputes are being used as a distraction. He also noted the lack of focus on critical issues over the past 12 years while acknowledging the Parliament's debate over the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram, which he described as an inspiration for all Indians.
