Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Tuesday that the state will commemorate 'Telangana Thalli' day annually on December 9, aligning it with Sonia Gandhi's birthday.
The decision came as part of a tribute to Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, credited for fulfilling the long-standing dream of Telangana's formation. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's vision is also noted as guiding the state's governance strategies.
The celebration marks the day when the announcement to form Telangana from Andhra Pradesh was made in 2009, with state-wide efforts underway to install 'Telangana Thalli' statues in district Collector offices.
