The recent elections for the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) in Mizoram have resulted in a hung parliament, with no single party achieving a majority, according to official reports.
The Mizo National Front (MNF) emerged as the largest single party by securing eight of the 25 available seats. The Congress won seven seats, the ruling ZPM managed six, while the BJP secured two seats. Additionally, two Independent candidates were elected.
A majority in the council requires at least 13 seats. It remains to be seen whether any post-election alliances will be formed, particularly between the MNF and Congress, who had earlier discussed cooperative strategies.
