Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra strongly criticized the G RAM G Bill on Thursday, stating that it threatens to dismantle the rural employment guarantee scheme.
Amid protests, the Lok Sabha passed the bill, stirring concern among opposition parties. The legislation aims to replace MGNREGA, promising 125 days of guaranteed rural jobs.
Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan defended the bill, claiming it was a step towards upholding Gandhian ideals. Priyanka Gandhi, however, highlighted the financial burden on states, predicting the scheme's eventual demise and loss for the poor and laborers.
