DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan has leveled severe criticism against Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay Kumar following the tragic Karur stampede incident. Elangovan attributed the catastrophe, which claimed 41 lives at a public meeting, to Vijay's tardy arrival, arguing that the delay forced attendees to wait under harsh conditions for hours.

According to Elangovan, the fatalities and injuries could have been avoided if Vijay had adhered to the scheduled timing. Despite the allegations, Vijay refuses to acknowledge any responsibility. On Tuesday, he returned to Chennai after a thorough seven-hour interrogation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Delhi regarding the tragic events.

The CBI's investigation focuses on the sequence of events and factors contributing to the stampede. Originally a Tamil Nadu Police case, the Supreme Court transferred it to the CBI in October 2024. Vijay faces further questioning, highlighting the ongoing legal scrutiny surrounding the incident, which has ignited widespread public outrage.
