The BJP Parliamentary Board has taken a significant step in potentially forming a new government in Manipur by appointing Tarun Chugh as the central observer. Chugh, a national general secretary, will oversee the election of the legislature party leader.
This decision comes as the current President's rule in Manipur is set to expire. In light of this, NDA MLAs from the state have been summoned to the national capital by BJP's central leadership. Their discussions will focus on establishing an administration in the Northeastern state that has witnessed months of ethnic conflict.
The imposition of President's rule on February 13, 2025, followed the resignation of the BJP-led government headed by Biren Singh. The BJP aims to stabilize the region by forming a cohesive government ahead of the cessation of central governance next week.
