Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar voiced assurance that the Congress party is set to secure a definitive win in the upcoming Assembly bypolls in Bagalkote and Davanagere South, scheduled for April 9. This optimism is based on favorable public feedback towards Congress's guarantee schemes.

The bypolls were triggered by the passing of incumbents Shamanur Shivashankarappa and H Y Meti, with their successors, Samarth Shamanur and Umesh Meti, facing off against BJP candidates. Shivakumar highlighted Congress's grassroots efforts, suggesting a voter shift from BJP to Congress due to the rising popularity of their schemes.

Additionally, Shivakumar criticized the BJP for the LPG shortage affecting the state, demanding immediate remedial actions from the central government. As part of his campaign trail, he plans to visit Kerala before resuming efforts in Davanagere.
