On Wednesday, Dalit MPs from NDA parties urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to address what they describe as an insult to a Dalit presiding officer by opposition members allegedly orchestrated by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal confirmed the complaint.

The controversy emerged after Congress MP casually addressed the presiding officer Krishna Prasad Tennati as 'yaar,' which according to the Dalit MPs, undermines the dignity of the Chair. The situation escalated as papers were thrown at the Chair in protest.

Following the incident, tensions soared in the Lok Sabha, resulting in the suspension of seven Congress MPs and one CPI-M member for the rest of the Budget Session. The incident underlines ongoing strife between opposition and ruling party members in India's political arena.
