In a sharp denouncement, Tamil Nadu BJP leader C R Kesavan has taken aim at the West Bengal government, accusing it of showing disrespect toward President Droupadi Murmu during her visit to the state. The move by the TMC government to change the location of an international Santhali conference, initially set to be attended by the President, has sparked accusations of protocol breach.
Kesavan's strongly worded statement claims that the TMC's actions highlight a pattern of disregard for the tribal community, due to previous derogatory remarks by TMC ministers regarding Murmu's appearance. The BJP spokesperson labeled the actions as indefensible and demanded accountability.
Furthermore, Kesavan criticized the silence of opposition leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and M K Stalin, urging them to condemn the treatment of India's first tribal female President. He insisted on an apology from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the TMC.
